When they are ready to retire, he helps his clients form and implement tax-efficient exit strategies, including sales of the businesses, deferred compensation structures, and other “buy-out” mechanisms.
Tyler’s tax practice focuses on representing individuals, non-profit organizations, and for-profit businesses in matters with the Internal Revenue Service, Washington State Department of Revenue, and the U.S. Department of Justice. These include tax audits, collection issues, installment agreements, offers in compromise, tax liens, penalty abatements, voluntary disclosure issues, and other IRS disciplinary actions. He also advises taxpayers on complicated tax transactions and various income tax planning opportunities for closely held entities, family investment companies, real estate holdings companies, and healthcare groups.
Tyler earned his law degree from Seattle University School of Law, where he earned the school’s President’s Scholarship for all three years. During law school, he focused on tax and business law, and was president of the law school’s moot court program, advancing to a national competition, as well as being elected to the National Order of Barristers. After graduating law school, Tyler received his Master of Laws in Taxation from the University of Washington School of Law.
