This event is for dentists who are considering buying a practice in the near future. In this course, you will learn about the legal, financial, logistical, and emotional aspects of buying a dental practice. Our team of experts will lecture and conduct Q&A sessions on the following topics:

– “Value vs. Price”
– The importance of Purchase Price Allocation
– 4 Keys of Bank Lending for Practice Acquisitions: Loan to Gross Ratio (How much the borrower can get), Liquidity (How much lenders like to see in “reserves” for a borrower), Production (How lenders make sure that the new owner will hit the ground running), Cash Flow (What it means and how it is calculated)
– Legal issues regarding buying a dental practice, including non-competes, tax structures and allocation, and liabilities
– Real estate issues that must be addressed

SPEAKERS
Rod Johnston, MBA, CMA, Owner and Principal Broker, Omni Practice Group – Rod’s background in accounting, finance, sales, and real estate makes him one of the most well-rounded practice transition consultants in America. Rod has an MBA from Seattle University and is a Certified Management Accountant. He is also an Accredited Business Appraiser by the Institute of Business Appraisers. Rod’s experience and background include stints as a financial planner, as Assistant Treasurer and Director of Accounting for AT&T Wireless, and as a Commercial Broker for Keller-Williams and Omni Healthcare Real Estate. Rod started Omni in 2004 with two things in mind; provide a Nordstrom-like service to help doctors with their transition, and to be an expert resource to medical professionals in the fields we work in. He has developed systems and processes in the brokerage industry that are mimicked and copied throughout the nation. He and his company have transitioned hundreds of practices with great success while maintaining a “win-win” relationship between his clients.
Frank Sciabica, DDS, Practice Transition Consultant, Omni Practice Group Dr. Frank Sciabica serves as a Transition Consultant at Omni Practice Group. He has been looking after the oral health of his patients and creating healthy, beautiful smiles for more than 25 years. The doctor and his team at Lake Sammamish Family Dentistry have advanced their dental training and knowledge to provide every patient with the most advanced treatment available today. Frank has a DDS from Marquette University School of Dentistry, and his post graduate education includes training at the Las Vegas Dental Institute for Advanced Dental Studies for Advanced Anterior Aesthetic Dentistry and at the American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine. Frank is a licensed commercial broker in Washington and California.
Jen Bennett, Practice Transition Consultant, Omni Practice Group –A native to Washington, Jen received her degree in Communications at Central Washington University. After college, she furthered her education and training at PIMA Medical Institute where she earned her certificate in Dental Assisting. She served the dental community as a CDA for over 16 years. Jen made the decision to advance her career by becoming a Dental Practice Broker in 2016 and now has over 50 successful dental practice transitions under her belt. She is a valuable asset to the OMNI team.
Aaron Pershall, CBA, Regional Director of Practice Finance, Provide – For over 15 years, Aaron Pershall specialized in dental practice appraisals, transitions, sales, and mergers throughout the Pacific Northwest. As a dental practice broker, he worked to ensure the success of his clients through effective strategic planning, constructive and thoughtful negotiation, and exceptional service. Now, in his role at Provide, he puts his knowledge and experience to work delivering industry-leading financing products and helping doctors find the right financing solution to help them achieve their practice ownership dreams! Aaron also enjoys being an active member of the National Association of Certified Valuators and Analysts and holds the Certified Business Appraiser (CBA) credential. He has lectured to numerous dental societies and study clubs throughout the Pacific Northwest and written several published articles on the topics of practice appraisals and transitions. Aaron is a graduate of Pacific Lutheran University with a degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Entrepreneurship/New Venture Management.
